A case of Congenital Pseudarthrosis of Tibia with Ossification Defect on the Proximal Tibia

Abstract
|
|
|
Congenital pseudarthrosis of tibia is a rare condition and has been recognized as perhaps the most difficult condition on orthopedics to treat.
The authors experienced an unusual case of congenital pseudarthrosis of tibia with ossification defect on the proximal tibia and followed up the case for 12 years.
We failed to attain bony union in spite of bone graft operation twice but achieved spontaneous union on pseudarthrosis after ambulation with long leg brace.
Saucer or cleft like bone defect on the proximal tibia also disappeared after bone union and disappearance of cystic changes on diaphysis.
